What Hollywood will never reveal about Churchill




Much has been written in praise of Gary Oldman’s brilliant portrayal of Winston Churchill  in Darkest Hour( which btw is not that great a film), for which he won the Oscar for the best actor.  The entire film is set in the month of May 1940, ie the first month of his prime minister ship, and  takes the artistic liberty (a much abused term) of adding fictional elements such as Winston Churchill travelling by the underground metro train near the film’s end to gather the public’s general opinion on whether to enter into negotiations with Herr Hitler or to fight on. Or having his personal secretary Elizabeth Layton coming into the ‘war room’ to explain her the precarious situation in Dunkirk. Ridiculous, considering that, 

1. The access to the ‘war room’ cannot be given so easily , least of all to secretarial staff
 2. Layton was his secretary since mid 1941 whereas the film is set in May 1940.

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (1874 - 1965) is venerated for his leadership of the United Kingdom during the Second World War and is considered  one of the greatest wartime leaders of the century.  In addition to being an orator, he was also a historian, a writer and an artist. He is the only British Prime Minister to have received the Nobel Prize in Literature (in 1953), and was the first person to be made an Honorary Citizen of the United States. He’s been voted as the greatest Briton of all time, ahead of Shakespeare, Newton and Darwin.

The film should be acknowledged for not shying away from portraying him as an unpleasant , haughty, decadent man who wont abandon his luxurious ways of cigar and champagne even in the trying days of war,his views on India are mentioned by Edward in a passing reference, who was really wanted by nobody, but was invited by Edward to be the PM only because he was the only one agreeable by the opposition Labour Party .

But there are so many more unpleasant things that Hollywood will never show about  Churchill. Alongwith Mohandas Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, he remains one of the most whitewashed figures in world history.

Even in those imperial times, Winston Churchill was the extreme at the end of the imperial spectrum. PM Stanley Baldwin was warned against having him in the cabinet for his views. Even his doctor Lord Moran, said of his views on other races: "Winston thinks only of the colour of their skin."

According to William Manchester, "The Caged Lion", His father, Lord Randolph Churchill, briefly Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer, "actually loathed Winston", wrote Manchester. His mother, a beautiful American named Jennie Jerome, "devoted most of her time to sexual intrigue, slipping between the sheets with handsome, powerful men in Britain, in the United States, and on the Continent.(one of her lovers was the  Her husband was in no position to object. He was an incurable syphilitic."Not a recipe for a great childhood.

Whatever the Nazis did, British did much worse for their colonies in Asia and Africa, and as victors in the two world wars, found enough opportunities to do away with the evidences of their genocides and wrongdoings. Everyone remembers the holocaust, but the millions of victims of famines caused due to British policies of using land to grow cash crops instead of foodcrops in two centuries are hardly acknowledged. 

Benjamin Disraeli, former British PM, called India "the brightest jewel in the crown," acknowledging India's valuable resources that Europe exploited like spices, mineral ores, textiles, the huge pool of cheap labour and the large market for British goods. As its largest colonial territory, India was the most important of all the overseas possessions of the British Empire. Britain held on to India for as long as it could, relinquishing it only when it was thoroughly weakened by the second world war, accelerating its departure post the naval uprising of 1946.

"Power will go into the hands of rascals, rogues, and freebooters. Not a bottle of water or loaf of bread shall escape taxation; only the air will be free and the blood of these hungry millions will be on the head of Attlee." This Churchill quote is cited so often by various people discussing the evil of corruption in India. But this doesn’t mean Churchill was sympathetic or concerned about  India or Indians ( as his views about them can be summed in these two sentences of his:- “I hate Indians. They are a beastly people with a beastly religion that breed like rats”,  or those about  Mohandas Gandhi – “He ought to be lain bound hand and foot at the gates of Delhi, and then trampled on by an enormous elephant with the new Viceroy seated on its back."),it merely means that he wanted the British empire to continue, for India to be subjugated under the British rule.  Churchill spent nearly two years in India in the 1890s as an army officer around Bangalore, hating both India and Indians immensely, just like he hated the denizens of the other colonies.

After his stint in India, he was involved in the Anglo Boer wars, where he was imprisoned and his escape from there gave him fame nationally at just 24. By virtue of that, he was elected to the parliament and was a cabinet minister at 33. It would take him another thirty odd years to become the Prime minister.

The war certainly took a toll on him, and inspite of him leading Britain successfully through it, he lost the 1945 election to the Labour Party. He however was reelected in 1951 elections to serve another full term. In his diaries, Sir Francis Alan Brooke, Churchill's chief of the Imperial General Staff, observed on March 24, 1944, "He seems quite incapable of concentrating for a few minutes on end, and keeps wandering continuously."
The book reports that "The inner circle noted Churchill's rapid decline soon after the election. On some days he was nearly his old self, but more often than not he was unable to cope. The private secretary to the queen reported that Churchill often could not follow the trend of a conversation. At one point he even forgot that the electric power industry had been nationalized. He was frequently unable to contain his emotions often irritable and short of temper, at other times breaking into tears or becoming extremely maudlin. He also suffered from delusions of grandiosity, believing that only he could prevent a third world war."

Churchill was an imperialist and a white supremacist to the core, whose ideas on eugenics and the superior and inferior races were barely different from that of Hitler or Himmler. Superior white man conquering the primitive, dark-skinned natives, and bringing them the benefits of “civilisation” was god’s law for him, which he imbibed in Harrow and then Sandhurst. In 1937, he told the Palestine Royal Commission: "I do not admit for instance, that a great wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America or the black people of Australia. I do not admit that a wrong has been done to these people by the fact that a stronger race, a higher-grade race, a more worldly wise race to put it that way, has come in and taken their place." “Jolly little wars against barbarous peoples” delighted him. In Swat valley, among other areas, he gleefully took part in raids that laid waste to whole valleys, and in Sudan, he bragged about killing three ‘savages’. Just like Nazis gassed mentally impaired German citizens regularly in their quest for the perfect teutonic Aryan race, Churchill’s views on this were similar “I propose that 100,000 degenerate Britons should be forcibly sterilized and others put in labour camps to halt the decline of the British race. The unnatural and increasingly rapid growth of the feeble-minded and insane classes, coupled as it is with steady restriction among all the thrifty, energetic and superior stocks constitutes a national and race danger which is impossible to exaggerate. I feel that the source from which the stream of madness is fed should be cut off and sealed before another year has passed.” The concentration camps were no different, in this case , made for the Boers during the Anglo Boer wars, which according to  Churchill, produced ‘minimum suffering’ (28000 deaths). 100000 plus blacks were in the camps as well. 

Every imperial atrocity was defended by him,for putting down the ‘savages’ who couldn’t submit to the imperial will. “I am strongly in favour of using poisoned gas against uncivilised tribes...[It] would spread a lively terror.”How different is this mentality than the Nazi one which used Zyklon B to murder thousands in death camps? And no, uncivilized also meant fellow whites of Ireland as well, on whom he unleashed the Black and Tan thugs as a Colonial Secretary in 1920s.

Churchill was not the only responsible entity for the great Bengal famine of 1943 (which killed 4 million plus Bengalis in little more than a year), but his role of being complicit in this catastrophe is certain, where the root cause was that rice which was either to be planted for next years crop and was for local consumption was routed to the British troops fighting in west Asia and north Africa. A scorched earth policy was adopted by Britain in east of India, to prevent the resources from falling into the hands of the imperial Japanese army.In response to an urgent request by the Secretary of State for India, Leo Amery, and Wavell to release food stocks for India, Churchill responded with a telegram to Wavell asking,” If food is so short, how is Gandhi not dead yet?” His reaction was that it was their own fault for “breeding like rabbits” and that the plague was “merrily” culling the population.  
Skeletal, half-dead people were streaming into the cities and dying on the streets, but Churchill – to the astonishment of his staff – had only jeers for them. This rather undermines the claims that Churchill's imperialism was motivated only by an altruistic desire to elevate the putatively lower races.”

Barrack Obama, on becoming the US president in 2009 had the Churchill bust on the presidential desk (which his predecessor George HW Bush had left) returned to  Britain, because his Kenyan grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, was imprisoned without trial for two years and was tortured on Churchill's watch for anti empire activities.  He was just one of the more than 150000 Kenyans  who underwent similar treatment. One thing we all know is that Britain made it sure  while exiting its colonies to engineer something that will keep them perpetually in the state of disturbance. Churchill made his stellar contribution in this as well , offering the land in the British mandate of Palestine to both Jews and Arabs (in his words barbaric hordes who ate little but camel dung) while harbouring racial hatred for both, Britain later hastily retreating  in May 1948 to leave the two fighting among each other. Of course, holding grudges and being bitter all the time is not the way forward, otherwise as a Hindu, I should be inundated 24/7 in hatred against nearly all Turkics and central Asians, Pathans, Portuguese, British , Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and whoever has wronged my people. But its equally important that in today’s world of information being available at our fingertips, no whitewashing be allowed to be gotten away with, either in the name of entertainment or political correctness.

Basmati Blues: Another white savior stupidity




What is the white saviour genre? 

Its a genre which drives the notion that a white man/woman is necessary to save other races, to fight injustice done on them, put some sense in their head, make them ‘’civilized”, improve their life and save them because they are too naive to do either of them. 

Nine times out of ten, the saved are black people. Remaining are various tribes like native Americans and Indians, Chinese and Japanese.

While some of the films that are put in this genre are really milestones in cinema,eg Lawrence of Arabia, To Kill a Mockingbird, Dances with Wolves, most of them are nothing but poor promoters of racial stereotypes, which state that the group which is the film revolves around or is set in is a bunch of naive, brainless  dunces killing and discriminating against each other until an idealistic white man or woman whos a teacher, mentor, lawyer, military hero, aspiring writer or any sort of a higher human being with world changing power steps in and :-


  • ·         Makes them mend their ways.
  • ·         Saves them from the dangers brought by his/her own people
  • ·         Becomes one of them and adapts their culture.


In some cases, these films lie blatantly. The most glaring example is the movie Blind Side, an autobiography of NFL player Michael Oher, who was adopted by the Tuohey family as a teenager. The film shows that Leanne Tuohy (played by Sandra Bullock) adopts a homeless (black) Michael and inspires him to become an American football player by recognizing his talent. In reality, Michael Oher was already a prodigy when Tuohey family adopted him. What added insult to injury was that Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for  the best actress.

Another example is “The Hurricane”, which is the biopic of Reuben Carter, a middleweight boxer who spent twenty years in prison for a fake homicide charge, until he was ‘rescued’ by a young black pen friend and three young white people from Canada , who helped his case by discovering some key evidences. In reality, the three Canadians are fictional characters. The film completely looks over the fact that Reuben Carter was arrested for violent crimes right from the age of 14, including brutal muggings. There was enough evidence to convict him twice for the murders , he failed the lie detector test, refused to retake it, and the judge threw out the conviction because the prosecution did not present key evidence. They finally dropped it because there was nothing left after 22 years. Clearly, a case of turning a villain into a sympathetic figure. 

The worst film till now for white saviour concept with respect to India has to be “Indiana Jones and the Temple of doom” where Indians food is shown as fried scarab beetles, leeches eaten live, eyeball soup and frozen monkey brains for desert.


And Kali is shown as a devil goddess and her worshippers are a death cult, who extract hearts similar to the Aztec and Mayan priests:-


The film was so horrible that the Indian govt banned it from being shot in India and it had to be shot in Sri Lanka. What a fall for Steven Spielberg and Amrish Puri.

Another recent example is of course Slumdog Millionaire, where absolutely no Indian character in the film is shown as even half decent.  And the white man is shown as a saint who rewards Indian urchins with money even after they have taken off the tires of his Mercedes. Sniff sniff.

The latest entrant into this white saviour comedy is the musical ‘Basmati Blues’.



Didnt expect this from Brie Larsson, who’s Oscar winning role in Room (2015) is certainly a must watch. This film was largely made in 2013 when she was not a star, but now has a limited release.
So in it, the Larrson’s character is a scientist named Linda , who created genetically modified rice with her father (such a new invention isn’t it. ) Her Boss Gurgon played by Donald Sutherland (whats with good actors taking stupid roles) tells her to go to India because  its “ a country of five hundred million farmers, one billion rice eaters and one billion customers for us”. (Golly, what a new thing to discover ,that Indians eat rice and that they all are naive enough to be dumped with a GM variant of any foodgrain.)  Promptly she’s handpicked by him because she’s the sweet face who will convince the Indian farmers to buy the GM  rice.

Now whos going to explain to them that Monsanto is trying to enter the Indian market with its GM corn and BT cotton but has been fought off by the farmers who don’t need post graduate degree to see it for the curse that it is.

She’s told that Bilari is where she has to go because it is the birthplace of Basmati . Bilari is in Uttar Pradesh, but in this film its shown in Kerala. And to go to Kerala, she lands in Mumbai. Sorry sweetheart, but every major city in India has an airport.   Basmati rice is mainly grown in north India, and is just one of the thousands of breeds of rice grown in the country. 

She travels to the village on a train in sleeper class (because thats how all train bogies look in India), and meets the hero, who hangs upside down like a monkey, as he is travelling on the roof of the train (like all Indians do, isn’t it).  We later learn that our hero Rajit has been forced to return to his village after dropping out of his agricultural science degree as he cant pay the fees(so Bollywoodisque). His parents, and all villagers speak English in the much lampooned Indian accent and  are able to understand her well (and those who do not speak English, speak Hindi, even when the signs in the background are in Malyalam). To cut a long story short, she falls for the humble hero, sings some songs with him, wins over the Indians with her sweet demeanour, but then saves them in the end by making them see that they are being sold sterile rice seeds and stops the train by chasing it on a horseback and then promptly detaching the bogies from the engine by a single whack of a hammer. The movie ends with her marrying our hero, and Bollywood dancing. 

And also in this film are people named Patel, Kapoor (in Kerala), spicy food, impromptu breaking into songs, and a kathak dance lesson .
 

Thankfully due to social media, unlike the days of Indiana Jones and the temple of doom, we have had people trash this film almost immediately. 


Every now and then this totally ridiculous and condescending genre raises its ugly head and it really surprising that who still invests in these kind of films. They are nothing but an extension of colonialism and white man’s burden. 

What will it take the west to understand that  they need to stop showing all African nations=poverty+civil war, Brazil=Favelas, Mexico= Drug cartels and India= slums+taj mahal+bollywood dancing.  It is no longer amusing, but cringeworthy to the core.

Two terrorists promoted as revolutionaries



A saying goes that “Of the dead, say nothing but good.” But is stating the facts which are contrary to oft repeated fables bad mouthing? Or should we just whitewash their crimes in the name of respect for the dead?

Che Guevara (born Ernesto Guevara)  is among the biggest figures that as promoted as idealist revolutionaries who were killed by fascist regimes, a people’s voice that was cruelly stifled. So many anti establishment young people proudly wear a tshirt with his now so famous pic (taken by Alberto Korda in 1960 ), sometimes with the tagline‘’hasta la victoria siempre” . Movies like “The Motorcycle Diaries” only make this romaticisation more absurd.
Absurd, because Che Guevara was no different than other communist mass murderers. Only that he got to kill a lot less than the likes of Cheka and NKVD. "My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood, "he wrote to his father "I'd like to confess, Papa, at that moment I discovered that I really like killing."
Leftist historians rightly say that Fidel Castro liberated Cuba from the American backed dictatorship of  Fulgencio Batista. But they omit the other half of the sentence:- only to enslave them in a totalitarian police state which made the last one look tame. And Che Guevara was the jailer and executioner-in-chief of Castro's dictatorship, running kangaroo courts and heading the notorious La Cabaña prison in Havana, he supervised the detention, interrogation, summary trials and execution of hundreds of "class enemies". Also among the enemies of the people were homosexuals, pro western citizens, foreign educated elite, anyone that could be put in the ‘bourgeoise’ category. And of course, most were executed with little trial. This is the reality of his famous pic (it became famous only post Che’s death, via the left dominated mass media and academia) which  is anything but romantic.
In other words, he was to Fidel Castro what Lavrentiy Beria was to Stalin. And it was no surprise since he admired both Stalinist (the great purge) and Maoist (cultural revolution) methods of ‘’dealing with people’s enemies”.
Ironically enough, the same rebellious youths who wear Che Guevara shirts most likely would've been executed by Guevara had they grown up in Cuba. Guevara considered anyone who listened to rock and roll music, who wore his hair long, or who spoke up against him a ‘delinquent’. Constant surveillance, control, and repression were the values he lived by, something which his student admirers wont digest, as would his progressive individualism obsessed admirers, since his goal was to "make individualism disappear from the nation”, as thinking about the individual “was a crime”.
 He wrote to a friend in 1957, ‘My ideological training means that I am one of those people who believe that the solution to the world’s problems is to be found behind the Iron Curtain.’ It was him and not Fidel Castro who in 1960 invented Cuba’s first corrective work camp, what the Nazis called Arbeitslager or Soviets called Gulag.
Cuba has been such a heaven under Fidel Castro that thousands of Cubans escaped to Florida in evil USA in any manner they could, even on inflated rubber tubes and hastily made rafts. Two million plus is the official figure of total number of Cubans who risked their life and limb to escape the nightmare regime. Over TWENTY TIMES as many people (and counting) have died trying to escape Castro’s Cuba as died trying to escape East Germany. Under evil Batista, Cuba received more immigrants per-capita than almost any nation on earth.
"Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any enemy that falls in my hands! My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood. With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial howl!" "Hatred as an element of struggle; unbending hatred for the enemy, which pushes a human being beyond his natural limitations, making him into an effective, violent, selective, and cold-blooded killing machine. This is what our soldiers must become …" Ché Guevara





Che left Cuba in 1965 to spread the revolution worldwide. After getting routed in Angola, and Congo (because fighting armies is somewhat more difficult than ‘bravely’ gunning down detainees in La Cabaña prison), he moved his attention to Latin America, starting from the  landlocked country of Bolivia. There he tried to instigate an agrarian reform, as usual by terrorising and murder of those he championed. With CIA’s aid, he was captured by the Bolivian army, and promptly executed.





Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela is promoted as a non violent protester who was locked away for 27 years by the racist apartheid South African government . A kind grandfatherly leader, who couldn’t hurt a fly.
Well he hurt a lot more than  just flies. Such as soft targets like  women and children.
He was not jailed for 27 years, for non violent anti establishment movement as the media has been saying all these years. African National Congress, which today is the most powerful party in South Africa, did not have its beginnings as a political party, but as a armed resistance organization.   Mandela was the co founder and leader of the armed wing of the ANC, called Umconto wa Sizwe (Spear of the nation). Its primary task? Hitting civilian and other soft targets and carrying out maximum destruction.
And he directed his violence from behind the bars as well, including the 1983 Church Street car bomb that killed 19 people.

And another myth propagated is that he fought his ‘struggle’ via non violence or ahinsa of Mohandas Gandhi all his life and emerged triumphant in the end. Yes he did try non violent methods. For three months to be precise, and then cast them away and returned to his old violent ways. ANC originally adopted a policy of passive resistance against apartheid, but later embraced violence against the military and white civilian targets, when it was infiltrated and captured by Mandela and Co.
Every black liberation figure was communist propped, be it Martin Luther King, Jomo Kenyatta, Rosa Parks (forget about being the first woman to refuse to vacate her seat for whites, she wasn’t even the first in her town to do that) or Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela was no different than any other black figure propped up by the communists, in addition, he was a disciplined member of the Communist Party ie in this case, the South African Communist Party (SACP). He denied it in the 1958 trial, and till the end of his life. But proofs and evidence points to the opposite direction, which includes previously unavailable SACP records; government archives of Communist countries; memoirs and biographies of, and interviews with, SACP and ANC members of the period. 
 



SACP (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacp ), outlawed since 1950, was, and remains, a hardcore Marxist-Leninist organization, where all members must pledge unquestioned obedience to the will of the Party, as determined by its Central Committee. It took orders from the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), making it an agent of a foreign power. Its members, led by Mandela, , secretly took control of the ANC, relegating  ANC leaders committed to reform and change through peaceful, political means (so much for his so called Gandhian methods). 


Mandela and 150 other opponents of apartheid were arrested in 1956 on charges of treason in a trial lasting five years. All defendants were acquitted in 1961, but by then he was on the road to violence. Post the trial, he formed Umkonto va Sizwe , which aimed coordinated sabotage campaigns against military and government targets, and even guerrilla warfare. He was arrested again in 1962 on charges of organizing labor strikes and attempting to leave the country illegally. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but on further charges of overthrowing the government and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1963. He was released in 1990 fearing an imminent race civil war across the country.

As mentioned before, Mandela led the Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), the armed wing of ANC,  which was also controlled by SACP, and its cadre were trained in South Africa, China, and other  Communist “Frontline States” — Zambia, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe — by Soviet, Chinese, East German, Cuban, Czech, and other Communist instructors. Mandela was a top SACP leader and he went on to lead ANC later on. So to say that he has had no part to play in the innumerable acts of torture and murder committed by ANC mobs is both delusional and devious. 

 One of his quotes:-“Under a Communist Party government, South Africa will become a land of milk and honey. Political, economic and social rights will cease to be enjoyed by whites only. They will be shared equally by whites and non-whites. There will be enough land and houses for all. There will be no unemployment, starvation and disease. Workers will earn decent wages; transport will be cheap and education free.” 

We all know how well this quote works out.

Among his ideals were Castro, Marx and Nehru, but he studied the works of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin and Mao Zedong – and agreed with many of their ideas.
ANC and MK didn’t wage a struggle to uphold the rights of the Africans. They exploited the miserable conditions caused by apartheid, racism and colonialism to further the objectives of the Marxist Leninist ‘international revolution’. Their terror torture and massacre was directed against South Africa’s blacks much more than the Boers.

If this is not enticing racial hatred, then what is?
 

 In 1985, the South African government offered to release him if he left the path of violence. He refused. “Not only did Mandela refuse to renounce violence, Amnesty refused to take his case stating “[the] movement recorded that it could not give the name of ‘Prisoner of Conscience’ to anyone associated with violence, even though as in ‘conventional warfare’ a degree of restraint may be exercised.”
 
ANC lynch mobs victims (which are in hundreds) were primarily black, sadly . Mandela even suggested cutting off the noses of blacks deemed collaborators. His second wife, Winnie Mandela, was caught on video saying, “With our boxes of matches and our necklaces we shall liberate this country!" Winnie has been convicted in the deaths of hundreds of such killings, but not only did she not escape justice, she still remains in the core committee of the ANC.




And what is necklacing?  Textbook definition is as follows:- Necklacing is the practice of summary execution and torture carried out by forcing a rubber tire, filled with petrol, around a victim's chest and arms, and setting it on fire. The victim may take up to 20 minutes to die, suffering severe burns in the process.

The thousands  of victims tortured brutally to death by ANC mobs and the many thousand who continue to die are persona non grata for the media and world leaders, just like the Kashmiri Pandits, Yemenis and Pakistani Hindus.  

Two of the ANC’s biggest donors, in the 1990s, were Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya (USD 10 million) and President Suharto (USD 60 million) of Indonesia . Not only did Mandela overlook their horrible human rights records but as the South African president, he diplomatically defended them and awarded them South Africa ‘s highest honour in 1997. He maintained close ties to Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and backed Palestinian terrorist leader Yasser Arafat.
